The Vietnam tourist visa is issued to Kenyans who have the intention of traveling to Vietnam for the purpose of tourism and leisure. A passport with at least 6-month validity from the date of travel is required. Temporary passports may be declined. Two recent 4 cm x 6 cm passport-sized photograph is required for the visa application. The Vietnam tourist visa has two types: Single-entry visa- valid for one month. Multiple-entry visa- valid for three months. Hotels in Vietnam require you to present your passport upon check-in so that your stay can be registered with local police. If you stay at a private residence (for example, at the residence of family or friends), you must comply with registration requirements by visiting the local police station and registering your stay within 24 hours. Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, t uberculosis, dengue fever, zika, and avian influenza (H5N1). Travelers carrying a large sum of money (US$5000 and greater) must have it declared. Vietnam’s local equivalent of an emergency line is 113. You can dial the emergency line for any of the following: Replace a stolen passport. Need to find appropriate medical care if you are the victim of a violent crime such as assault or rape. Need to be in contact with appropriate police authorities, or contact family members or friends at your request. Need help with the local criminal justice process. Travelers who violate Vietnamese laws, even unknowingly, may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned. The Government of Vietnam maintains strict control over all forms of political speech, so be careful not to indulge in any political talks. You should also avoid purchasing liquor from street vendors, as the authenticity of the content cannot be assured. This visa is for business travelers who have the intention of engaging in business activities in Vietnam. Business travelers during meetings with their partners in Vietnam can negotiate and sign business contracts. This visa also allows foreigners to attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits in the country. Travelers with the intention of attending conferences while they are in the country are expected to have pre-registered for the conference beforehand. Proof of this registration will be asked at the consulate. An official letter of invitation from the company in Vietnam, written on the company’s letterhead is required. The letter should state both the duration and purpose of your visit. A letter from your employer stating approval of your business leave is required. The letter should also state your job position and the duration of your leave. If the responsibility of your finances would be taken up by either the company you are meeting with or your employer, this should be clearly stated in the letter. Kenyans on a business visa are not permitted to receive payment for the services they render while they are in the country. You also cannot take up a course to study in one of the institutions of learning in Vietnam. If you are traveling with a minor, the unabridged original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required. Applicants are expected to be vaccinated against yellow fever before traveling to Vietnam.
