 The tourist visa allows Kenyans to visit the country for sightseeing, recreation and relaxation purposes. This visa allows foreigners to visit their friends and relatives in the country. A letter of invitation containing contact details from your host in Bulgaria should be provided.  Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up a course to study in any of the institutions in the country. The tourist visa can either be a Type A (short stay) or type B) visa. Applicants are to provide a valid international passport with a  6 months  validity period from the date of departure. The processing time for the Bulgarian tourist visa is 90 days. All visa application forms are to be submitted not earlier than 3 months before the  intended date of travel. Applicants are to provide a copy of a recent bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds   (at  least $60 per day). Visa applications for minors or judicially disabled persons shall be submitted by their legal representatives or by persons expressly authorized to do so. Applicants should provide a copy of medical insurance that is valid in EU and covers duration of stay. The Bulgarian visa is of two types: Short-stay business visa, designated as the “Type C” visa. Long-term business visa, designated as the “Type D” visa. A Kenyan may obtain a Bulgarian Business visa on the ground of registering a limited company, branch or trade representative office in Bulgaria. The short-stay Bulgarian Business visa is a multi-entry visa allowing a stay of 90 days in Bulgaria. There are 3 primary instances for which a long-term Bulgarian Business visa (Type D visa) is issued: For registration of a Trade Representative Office in Bulgaria For registration of a Bulgarian company employing at least 10 local citizens for no fewer than 6 months. For registration of a Bulgarian branch employing at least 10 local citizens for now fewer than 6 months. The most convenient and affordable way for a foreign national to obtain a “Type D” Bulgarian Business visa, and eventually a Bulgarian residence permit is by way of registering a trade representative office in Bulgaria. The eligible applicants of these visa are students who intend to study full-time in one of the institutions of learning in the country. Students should ensure that they have been offered admission into the institution of their choice in Bulgaria before processing this visa. The Bulgarian Student Visa  (D-type Visa) is valid from 3 to 6 months. The student visa can be obtained from any Bulgarian Diplomatic Mission abroad. All non-EU/EEA students aiming to study in Bulgaria must secure this visa. Applicants are to submit their international passport that has a minimum validity of one year from intended date of departure. Applicants are to provide proof of medical insurance valid for the EU member states for the whole period of the trip, covering all costs for repatriation,urgent medical care and emergency hospital treatment for the period of the stay in Bulgaria. The applicant with a Bulgarian student visa must apply for a long-term stay (residency permit) in Bulgaria on arrival   . This permit is usually valid for one year maximum and renewable every year for the whole period of the study. Proof of financial sufficiency that covers duration of stay should be submitted. Proof of payment of tuition fee. A letter of acceptance from the institution in Bulgaria should be provided. Applicants of this visa should confirm that they have been offered a job in Bulgaria before initiating the visa application process. Employed applicants are to posses a  work permit  cleared by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. Employees with above 10%  foreign workers, are not allowed to employ more foreigners   . The Bulgarian work visa has a validity period of more than 90 days. This visa is for diplomats visiting the country for official purposes. Diplomats visiting the country aim to improve the relationship between the government of Kenya and Bulgaria. A diplomatic note from the Kenyan government is required. The note should contain your position in government, duration, and purpose of your visit to the country. An original invitation letter from the government in Bulgaria is required. Asides Head of States, if your purpose of visiting the country is non-official, this visa will not be issued to you.
