If you are in possession of more than $5,000 or its equivalent on entry to Bangladesh, you are required to declare. You cannot leave the country with more than the amount of USD you took in with you and you cannot leave the country with 5,000 Bangladeshi takas. Avoid taking photographs of military and government buildings.

A copy of the biodata page of your passport should be with you at all time. This will be used as a means of identification whenever random checks are carried out by the authorities.

Basic Travel Requirements for Kenyans visiting Bangladesh

  • Passport with a validity of six months from the intended date of travel. The passport should have at least two blank space and must not be torn or altered in any way.

This visa is issued to Kenyans who have the intention of visiting Bangladesh for leisure and tourism purposes. The Bangladeshi tourist visa can be single or multiple entry, usually valid for 30 days in a one-year period. This visa allows Kenyans to visit their friends and relatives who are living in the country. Kenyans who have been invited to Bangladesh by their friends and relatives are required to provide a letter of invitation from their host. The letter of invitation should introduce the applicant and should be accompanied by a valid means of identification of the host. Type and category of visa varies according to the purpose of visit, the length of stay and bilateral arrangement with Kenya. Any change in rules and regulations made by the Government of Bangladesh will apply to issued visas. Bangladesh does not allow the exchange of local currency   (Bangladeshi  taka) for U.S. dollars   (cash  and traveler’s checks) unless the customer has a ticket for travel outside Bangladesh. Kenyans visiting the country are not prohibited from attending events and festivals. If the applicant is employed, a letter confirming the awareness of the applicants leave by the employer/company should be submitted. The letter should specify the applicants job position and should be written on the company's letter head. Applicants that are self-employed should attach a copy of their business license, income tax return, and the company's bank statement for the last six months to their application. Applicants travelling with minors are expected to provide the original copy of the minors' birth certificate. If the child is traveling with one or none of his/her parents, a notarized consent signed by both parents is required. Proof of hotel reservation/accommodation should be submitted by the applicant. Proof of medical fitness showing that the applicant is free from any communicable disease is required. Applicants should provide of proof that they have the incentive of returning to their home country at the expiration of their visa. applicants should provide proof of visa application fee payment. Foreigners on this visa are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment in Bangladesh. Kenyans are advised to obey the rules of this visa.

The Business Visa is issued to Kenyans who are visiting Bangladesh to engage in business activities. A Bangladesh business visa is usually issued with a six months validity and  can be extended for up to 3-5 years. Kenyans with this visa can negotiate and sign business contracts with their business partners in Bangladesh. Holders of this visa are allowed to attend conferences, business summits, and trade fairs while they are in Bangladesh. Free visas are granted only to holders of diplomatic, special and service passport or to Bangladeshi citizens holding a passport of another nation. Payments must be made directly at the Consular Office by draft ,cheque or cash. If you submitted your visa request via an ordinary mail or courier, you should contact the consular section for instructions on how to proceed with the payment. When traveling by air, all foreigners except children under the age of two must pay a departure tax. An invitation letter from the applicant’s host company is to be addressed and submitted to the embassy. The letter, introducing the applicant, stating the nature of business to be conducted and the duration of the trip should be written on the company's letterhead. The  letter should also state whether the host company or the sponsoring company will be responsible for the applicant’s finances in Bangladesh. Proof of previous business transactions between the host company and sponsoring company should be provided. The receipt that shows that visa application fee has been paid in full is required. This visa is issued to Kenyans who have been offered employment in one of the companies in Bangladesh. Applicants should ensure that they have been offered a job by an employer in the country before they start the application. An employment letter signed by your employer in Bangladesh stating the terms of the employment is required. Proof that your employer will not pay you below the national minimum wage being paid to the citizens of Bangladesh should be submitted. Your employer should provide proof that there was no citizen of Bangladesh willing and available to take up the job. applicants are to provide a copy of the work permit from Bangladesh. Kenyans who do not have the right qualification for the job they have been offered will not be issued this visa.  A certificate from the BID(Bangladesh Institute of Development) is to be submitted to the embassy employer. Kenyans traveling with a minor are to submit the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate. A notarized consent signed by both parent of the minor should also be submitted.

This visa is issued to Kenyans intending to transit through Bangladesh to their destination country. Applicants of this visa are those who have the intention of boarding a connecting flight from an airport in Bangladesh to their destination country. Applicants who will be joining a crew ship in Bangladesh are also eligible for this visa. Visa and other entry permits of the destination country is required. Flight ticket to the destination country should be provided. If you are under the age of 18, the original copy of your birth certificate should be submitted along with a notarized consent from both parents.
