Anybody intending to visit Malta with the purpose of sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation, will need to secure a tourist visa. A travel passport with a validity of not less than three  months is required. Two passport-size photographs taken against a white background is required. A letter of invitation from your host in Malta should be provided if you are meeting up with friends and relatives. Your true purpose of travel must also be explained in this letter. You should not purchase a flight ticket when the embassy has not issued your visa.  You are required to provide proof of valid medical insurance in order to cover your medical expenses. The insurance must cover your entire stay in Malta. Applicants must present a letter from their employer stating awareness and allowance of their leave. The duration of your leave should be stated in the letter. Minors are required to have the original copy of their birth certificate. If you are not traveling with your parents, a letter of consent signed by both your parents should be provided. Your bank statements for the last six months is required. This will serve as evidence that you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Malta. Proof of an incentive to return to your country should be provided. This could be in form of a return ticket or letter of employment in your country. Receipt of paid visa application fee is required. Holders of this visa are not allowed to work. You are not allowed to seek public funds while you are in the country. Malta is a safe country with low crime rates. It is advisable to travel there for tourist reasons.

Foreigners who intend to engage in business activities in Malta are eligible for this visa. During your time in the country, you can meet with your business partners to negotiate and sign contracts. You must provide a passport that is valid for at least three months longer than the intended period of stay. You can attend conferences and trade fairs during your time in the country. A letter of invitation from the company you are meeting up with should be provided. The company’s address, the purpose of your visit and how long you will be in the country should be stated in the letter. If you are self employed, you are required to provide a covering letter. This letter must be on your company's letterhead. If the travel expenses would be covered by the employer or the business partner in Malta, it should be clearly stated in the letter. Confirmation of business leave by your employer should be provided as a letter which explains this. Your position in the company and the duration of your trip to Malta should be also stated. Proof of previous dealings with the company you are meeting up with in Malta should be provided, if any. A travel itinerary must also be provided. It must include date of arrival and departure, and also  check-in and check-out dates at the hotels you are staying in. Certificate of business registration of your partner company in Malta is required, and also your company in Kenya. You are required to provide your salary slip for the last three months (if you are employed). You must provide income tax papers from the last three years. While on this visa, you are not permitted to be paid for the services you render in the country. Foreigners in the country with this visa cannot seek public funds. Receipt of paid visa application fee is required. Kenyans are expected to exit the country at the expiration of their visa.

Kenyans seeking medical attention from a hospital in Malta are the ones eligible for this visa. You are required to have a medical report from your doctor in Kenya. This report should be accompanied by a document which clearly states the reason the treatment is best administered in Malta. A medical attestation from the hospital or doctor in Malta, confirming the date of appointment as well as your medical situation is required. If you are employed, you should provide proof that your employer is aware of your leave. This may be stated in a letter written with the company’s letterhead and signed by your employer. Retirees should have a pension statement from the last 6 months. Applicants of this visa must provide proof that they have the means to pay for all cost incurred during the medical treatment . If you are covered by an insurance, you should provide proof of this. Minors must ensure they possess the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are traveling alone or with one of their parents, a document of consent which is signed by both parents of the minor should be provided. You are not allowed to work while you are in the country on this visa. At the end of your treatment, you are expected to leave the country immediately. Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up permanent residence in the country. Proof of payment of visa application fee is required.

This visa is exclusive for students who have been accepted into a school in Malta. An original passport valid for at  least six months beyond your intended period of stay in Malta is required. Two recent 2 x 2' passport photographs are required. These must be in color, taken in front view and against a white background. If you initiate the visa application process without confirmation of your admission, the visa will not be issued to you. A letter of acceptance into the school you applied to study is required before you will be issued this visa. Certificates and transcripts from the previous schools you have attended should be provided. You are required to provide a student status letter from the faculty of your university. Two copies of flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency showing round travel trip to Malta must be generated. An original copy of a proof of medical insurance to cover the duration of your visit must be provided. You are required to provide an evidence of sufficient funds to support stay and studies in Malta; such as your most recent bank statement or an international credit card statement. Students can take up paid employment during their time in the country as long as it does not interfere with their study. This visa can be extended to cover the duration of the study. If you are under the age of 18, you are required to have the original copy of your birth certificate. If you are not traveling with your parents, a letter of consent signed by both parents should be provided. You are not allowed to seek public funds while you are in the country. Receipt of paid visa application fee is required. Applicants who do not have a clean medical record may not be issued this visa.

This visa is for diplomats visiting the country for official purposes. Diplomats visiting the country aim to improve the relationship between the government of Kenya and Malta. A diplomatic note from the Kenyan government is required. The note should contain your position in government, duration, and purpose of your visit to the country. An original invitation letter from the government in Malta is required. Applicants of this visa are Heads of State, consular officers, ministers, and African Union representatives. Asides Head of States, if your purpose of visiting the country is non-official, this visa will not be issued to you. If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate should be presented during the visa application process. Diplomats can attend conferences and meetings while they are in the country. You are not allowed to study with this visa. Holders of this visa cannot be paid for the services they render in the country. Applicants should ensure they have a valid means of identification.

This visa allows foreigners to make short stops in Malta. You are required to have an original passport of at least three months beyond your return. Two recent passport photographs must be provided. Foreigners can transit through Malta to their destination country with this visa. Holders of this visa are required to possess the visa and flight ticket of their destination country. Proof of flight reservation must be provided; this includes confirmation of onward journey to the final destination. If you are under the age of 18 years, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be provided. Receipt of paid visa application fee is required. You are not allowed to study or take up paid or unpaid employment during your time in the country. The Malta transit visa is valid for 24 hours. You are required to exit the country before the expiry of your visa. This visa cannot be extended.
