Anybody intending to visit Malta with the purpose of sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation, will need to secure a tourist visa. A travel passport with a validity of not less than three  months is required. Two passport-size photographs taken against a white background is required. Foreigners who have friends and relatives residing in the country may do so with this visa. A letter of invitation from your host in Malta should be provided if you are meeting up with friends and relatives. Your true purpose of travel must also be explained in this letter. Your host’s home address and telephone number should also be clearly stated in the letter.  If you are not staying with a friend or a relative,  you are required to provide a proof of hotel reservation, or any other means of accommodation you may have. This visa does not allow you to be enrolled in any of the institutions in the country. If there are events and festivals that you are willing to attend in the country, you may do so with this visa. Proof of travel arrangement must be provided. Flight documents showing the airline and dates of travel must be provided. You should not purchase a flight ticket when the embassy has not issued your visa.  You are required to provide proof of valid medical insurance in order to cover your medical expenses. The insurance must cover your entire stay in Malta. Applicants must present a letter from their employer stating awareness and allowance of their leave. The duration of your leave should be stated in the letter. Minors are required to have the original copy of their birth certificate. If you are not traveling with your parents, a letter of consent signed by both your parents should be provided. Your bank statements for the last six months is required. This will serve as evidence that you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Malta. Proof of an incentive to return to your country should be provided. This could be in form of a return ticket or letter of employment in your country. Receipt of paid visa application fee is required. Holders of this visa are not allowed to work. You are not allowed to seek public funds while you are in the country. Malta is a safe country with low crime rates. It is advisable to travel there for tourist reasons.

Foreigners who intend to engage in business activities in Malta are eligible for this visa. During your time in the country, you can meet with your business partners to negotiate and sign contracts. You must provide a passport that is valid for at least three months longer than the intended period of stay. You can attend conferences and trade fairs during your time in the country. A letter of invitation from the company you are meeting up with should be provided. The company’s address, the purpose of your visit and how long you will be in the country should be stated in the letter. If you are self employed, you are required to provide a covering letter. This letter must be on your company's letterhead. If the travel expenses would be covered by the employer or the business partner in Malta, it should be clearly stated in the letter. Confirmation of business leave by your employer should be provided as a letter which explains this. Your position in the company and the duration of your trip to Malta should be also stated. This visa is exclusive for students who have been accepted into a school in Malta. An original passport valid for at  least six months beyond your intended period of stay in Malta is required. Two recent 2 x 2' passport photographs are required. These must be in color, taken in front view and against a white background. If you initiate the visa application process without confirmation of your admission, the visa will not be issued to you. A letter of acceptance into the school you applied to study is required before you will be issued this visa. Certificates and transcripts from the previous schools you have attended should be provided. You are required to provide a student status letter from the faculty of your university.
