  • This type of visa is required for foreign citizens traveling to Brazil for work purposes, with or without an employment relationship in the country.

  • In the case of an employment relationship, the applicant must provide proof of a job contract.

  • The Brazillian work visa is categorized into two; The temporary and permanent work visa.

    • Temporary work visa: Usually, Kenyan employees will obtain a temporary work visa which will initially be issued for two years. An extension for another two years can be requested not later than 30 days before the visa's expiration. After this four-year period the company can apply for a permanent work visa. An expatriate holding a temporary visa is not allowed to change employers in Brazil without permission.

    • Permanent work visa:A permanent work visa will usually be issued to Kenyans who are entitled to a permanent residence in Brazil. Normally this applies to professional researchers or scientists (for activities exceeding a period of two years), investors (provided the investment sum exceeds US$ 50,000 for natural persons or US$ 200,000 for companies) and manager or directors.

  • In order to have a remunerated job in Brazil Applicants will need both a residence permit (either temporary or permanent) and a work visa (Autorizaçao de Trabalho).

  • All the documents to be approved by the Brazilian authorities have to be translated into Portuguese and certificated before being submitted. 

  • For applicants without an employment contract, proof of a job offer with a Brazilian company is required.

  • Work visas and work permits are usually only issued to foreigners whose future employer is a registered Brazilian company

  • Application are allowed by the Brazil ministry of labour you will have to apply for a work visa at a Brazilian embassy or consulate or consulate in Kenya.

  • Applicants employer in Brazil is to submit the work contract to Brazil's ministry of labour.

  • Note that it is the sole responsibility of the sponsoring institution or company to carry out all the formalities at the Ministry of Labor in Brazil for the work visa process after labor approval.

  • Work visas can only be processed at the Consular Section once a visa approval notice is issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Labor.

  • Applicants of this visa are required to present a Police Certificate issued within the last 3 months, certifying absence of criminal record.

  • Proof of payment of visa application fee should be provided during the visa application process.

  • If you are under the age of 18, a notarized consent signed by both your parents should be provided. Also, the original copy of your birth certificate is required.
