Student Visa from Kenya to Portugal
- The student visa type is for Kenyan students who have the intention of studying in a school in Portugal.
- Before applicants can initiate the visa application process, they must have been accepted in one of the institutions in the country.
- One 35 mm x 45 mm passport size photograph in color is required.
- Documents confirming enrollment, stating type and length of courses to be taken in Portugal.
- Confirmed Accommodation: from the inviting institution if on campus or confirmed hotel reservations, stating name, address and telephone number of the hotel, including confirmation number.
- Higher education area adopted a system based on three cycles of study, at bachelor, master and doctorate's level, that is:
- 1st cycle of study lasting three or four years to attain a bachelor's degree, in Portugal called a licenciatura.
- 2nd cycle of study lasting one or two years to attain a master's degree, in Portugal called a mestrado.
- 3rd cycle of study lasting three years to attain a doctorate, in Portugal called adoutoramento.
- A residence permit will need to be applied for upon arriving in Portugal from the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF)
- Letter of admission from the institution you have been accepted into is required. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at school.
- Certificates and transcripts of the schools you previously attended is a necessary document to be provided during the visa application process.
- Proof that you can sufficiently finance your stay in Portugal must be provided.
- Students are required to have at least 38 Euros per day.
- Foreign students are allowed to work part-time as long as it does not affect their studies in the country.
- An extension to this visa can be granted to cover the duration of your program in the country.
- If you are a minor traveling without your parent, a letter of consent signed both your parents should be provided. Also, an unabridged original copy of your birth certificate is required.
