Tourist Visa from Kenya to Portugal

  • The Schengen tourist visa is for Kenyans visiting Portugal for sightseeing, adventures and vacations.
  • Portugal is part of the Schengen Area which is made up of 26 European countries, so a Schengen visa is required. 
  • Tourists are required to register with Portuguese Immigration Service within three days of entering Portugal. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in an administrative offense punishable with a fine from €60 to €160.
  • The currency used in Portugal is Euro.
  • The following documents are also required:
    • Two 35 mm x 45mm  passport-sized photos with white background.
    • Your original passport and copies of your previous visas.
    • Proof of travel insurance to cover you for the Schengen area.
    • Cover letter stating the purpose of your visit and itinerary that includes your activities, flight dates and times, entry and exit out of Portugal.
    • Accommodation plans for the duration of your stay. For example, hotel reservations.
    • Proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay. For example, records of bank statements for the last three months.
  • Tourists and short-term visitors can drive in Portugal for up to six months using their foreign licence. The general speed limits are:
    • Built-up urban areas: 50km/h
    • Rural roads: 90km/h
    • Motorways: 120km/h
  • Consumption of drugs like heroin, cocaine and the others are not considered criminal.
  • Portugal is a safe country but you have to be careful because of petty crimes.
  • Tourists that are going hiking should be careful because of cliff erosion.
