Kenyans looking to visit Sweden for tourism, sightseeing or other leisure activities require a short-stay tourist visa. The Sweden tourist visa also serves as a visitor's visa; it permits the holder to visit friends and relatives residing in Sweden.
Sweden is a Schengen country. The Sweden Schengen tourist visa is valid for 6 months in which you can stay in the Schengen region for not more than 90 days.
The Sweden tourist visa has two types:
Single-entry - valid for 90 days.
Multiple-entry - valid for 90 days for each stay in a 180-day period.
Applicants traveling to Sweden must have travel health insurance with total coverage of at least 30,000 euros.
You can get travel insurance for as low as 2 euros per day by reaching out to a trusted travel agency.
A foreigner who seeks to enter the territory of Sweden must be able to attest possessing 450 SEK or 48.26 euros for each day of their stay in Sweden.
Proof of accommodation such as a hotel booking must be provided. It is advised that you don't make hotel reservations before your visa application is approved.
A well-written cover letter is required if you are submitting your application via an agent. The cover letter should clearly state the basic details of your planned journey to Sweden, such as the reason of the visit, funding information, detailed itinerary and the clear intent that you will return to Kenya once your holidays are over.
If you received a decision you are not satisfied with, you can submit a written appeal no later than 3 weeks from the day you received the decision. In your appeal, write down which decision you are not satisfied with, and why and how you want it to be changed.
This appeal should be submitted directly to the Swedish embassy or consulate handling the application.
